Riccardo Burchielli

Riccardo Burchielli (Peccioli – 1975) started out as an art director in advertising, before turning to comics in 2003. He has collaborated with Eura Editoriale with some stories for the magazines Skorpio and Lanciostory and later drew episodes for the monthly publication John Doe.

In 2005, editor Will Dennis commissioned him to draw the successful and controversial DMZ series for the Vertigo line, with scripts by Brian Wood. In 2006-2007 he produced the series Garrett – Ucciderò ancora Billy the Kid (Garrett – I will kill Billy the Kid again) with Roberto Recchioni for Editoriale Cosmo.

In 2007, he won the Comicus Readers’ Prize and the Gran Guinigi Award of Lucca Comics&Games, both as ‘Best Artist’.

Most recently, he has collaborated with DC Comics and DC Digital with other Vertigo editions, such as Northlanders and American Vampire.
