The Periodic Issue introduces us to the famous ‘Periodic Table’ of elements, which has remained a rather mysterious object for many since school days. Everyone remembers a bunch of numbers and letters, but why was calcium below magnesium and iron above the mysterious ruthenium?! Comics&Science took comics writer Giovanni Eccher and comics artist Sergio Ponchione to visit the CNR-ICCOM, the Institute of Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds, where they saw firsthand these phantom elements, which through their imagination became an homage to classic comic book settings well known to fans. Which ones? Does the “Reaction Room” ring a bell?
